Since the corona pandemic started there was a huge demand for measuring Indoor Air Quality, every office room, classroom and public place where more or less required to start measuring the IAQ levels.
A lot of manufacturers developed a device that could measure the IAQ, some where good, some where less good; some had a nice led indicator others came with a smiley or sad face.

But really, what's the point of putting a measurement in place that provides an important measurement for the environment and then rely on the users of the environment where it's placed to notice the smiley or led indicator?

A lot of effort has gone into measuring carbondioxide (CO2) levels, most people don't realize there's more to Indoor Air Quality then simply measuring a carbondioxide PPM level.

All recent studies show that poor indoor air quality has an impact on the health of the building occupants, while this is true it also has a big impact on the comfort of building occupants and as such on the overall well-being.
Most Europeans spend 90% of their time indoors, so the importance of measuring the air quality is always present as is the importance to improve the indoor air quality.

The immediate effects of a poor Indoor Air Quality are irritation of the eyes, nose and throat, headaches, dizziness, and fatigue; but it also causes symptoms of for example asthma to show up, be aggravated or worsen.
Long term exposure to poor Indoor Air Quality can lead to serious health issues which include some respiratory diseases, heart disease and cancer.

Obviously this does not come from a high level of carbondioxide, by itself, hence why Indoor Air Quality should be and is about more then just measuring a CO2 level.
The Indoor Air Quality is determined by a mixture of temperature, relative humidity, air speed and the concentration of certain pollutants such as oxygen (O2), carbondioxide (CO2) and toxics like Ozone, Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), etc.

Inadequate ventilation can certainly increase indoor pollutant levels by not bringing in enough outdoor air to dilute emissions from indoor sources or not carrying indoor air pollutants out of the area. 
In general it's important to have a functioning and well maintained HVAC system in place as high temperature and humidity can also increase the level of some pollutants in an environment.
